“But there was no need to be ashamed of tears, for tears bore witness that a man had the greatest of courage, the courage to suffer.”
Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

Do you feel yourself growing apart from your partner? Are you constantly arguing/fighting over the same issue? Do you want to rekindle what you once had? Have you forgotten the three aspect rule of being a couple (me, you and us).  Couples feel the pressure within their relationships, many aspects could be the cause, like: work, children, extended families, changing lifestyles, moving, divorce, marriage, a third party, pre-retirement and retirement adaptation.

“Love is the only way to grasp another human being in the innermost core of his personality. No one can become fully aware of the very essence of another human being unless he loves him. By his love he is enabled to see the essential traits and features in the beloved person; and even more, he sees that which is potential in him, which is not yet actualized but yet ought to be actualized. Furthermore, by his love, the loving person enables the beloved person to actualize these potentialities. By making him aware of what he can be and of what he should become, he makes these potentialities come true.”
Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

Growing up children start to develop/have physical, psychological, emotional and social needs.  Parents and teachers invest life’s values and morals into them to the best of their ability, however children do grow up being exposed to the different environment.  They go through challenges with which they could battle with, feelings of confusement, peer pressure, bullying amongst others.  Children might not feel too comfortable talking about certain aspects they encountering with the people closest to them.  This is were I will be able to listen, understand and guide them through their feelings.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
― Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

Do you as parents understand your child’s generation and does your child understand your generation?  Does your child only persevere because you put pressure on them?  Are you and your child friends?  Parents may find themselves in situations in which they cannot understand that although I bring my child up with morals and values, they don’t seem to live their lives that way.  When last have you sat down with your child and spoken to them about their feelings or do you lead by authority.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

― Viktor E. Frankl

Society, cultures and families place many rules and expectations on people, thereby not allowing them the freedom to live their lives to the full potential of who they truly are.  This can lead to feelings of sadness, unhappiness, withdrawing or even making a decision just to satisfy society, cultures or families.  Are you battling to identify with yourself due to reasons outside of who you are?  What does your inner being seek?  Many questions linger and a person could find themselves stuck. People sometimes do not realize the repercussions of their decisions, so before you find yourself making an irrational decision, let’s work on a way forward together.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

“Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible.”
Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

“It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life—daily and hourly. Our answer must consist, not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual.”

Viktor E. Frankl

The death of a loved one is one that we can never overcome; it is always the ones who are left behind that suffer the greatest of heartaches.  In the living years, we form part of each other’s puzzles, when one piece is missing, the adjustment becomes almost unbearable and the thought of a new puzzle being made is an almost unsettling thought, as if we are cheating the one that has left us.  The first bereavement of someone close to you can make one fear other bereavements and resisting the acceptance of the inevitable.

“In some way, suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice.”
